Radiculopathy — Sciatic Nerve — C&P Exam Preparation

Peripheral Nerves DBQ~30 minutes

Pain, numbness, or tingling that radiates from the spine down the leg along the sciatic nerve. This is commonly secondary to lumbar spine conditions and is rated separately for each affected leg.

The examiner will test your reflexes, sensation, and muscle strength in your legs.
You will likely have a straight leg raise test — lying on your back while the examiner lifts each leg.
The examiner will check for numbness, tingling, and decreased sensation using tools like a tuning fork or monofilament.
You will be asked about radiating pain: where it starts, where it goes, and what makes it worse.
The examiner will rate your nerve involvement as mild, moderate, moderately severe, or severe.
