Peripheral Neuropathy — Lower Extremities — C&P Exam Preparation

Peripheral Nerves DBQ~30 minutes

Nerve damage in the legs and feet causing pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness. Commonly secondary to diabetes. Each leg is rated separately.

The examiner will test sensation in your feet and legs using monofilament, tuning fork, or pinprick tests.
Your reflexes at the ankle and knee will be tested with a reflex hammer.
Muscle strength in your feet, ankles, and legs will be tested by pushing against resistance.
You will be asked about numbness, tingling, burning, and pain in your feet and legs.
The examiner will classify your neuropathy as mild, moderate, moderately severe, or severe.
