Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — C&P Exam Preparation

Mental Disorders DBQ~60 minutes

A condition involving excessive, ongoing anxiety and worry that interferes with daily activities. The VA rates anxiety using the same criteria as PTSD and depression — based on occupational and social impairment.

The examiner will ask about your worry patterns, triggers, and physical symptoms of anxiety (racing heart, sweating, muscle tension).
You will be asked about panic attacks — how often they happen, how long they last, and what triggers them.
The examiner will assess how anxiety affects your ability to work, socialize, and handle daily responsibilities.
Your behavior, speech, and emotional state will be observed throughout the interview.
The same rating criteria used for PTSD and depression apply to anxiety.
